My favourite bitch who I reared (from 8 weeks old) broke in and trained. She was prone to severe cramping at the end of 300m and no amount of treatment and remedies worked.
However she won 9 races with 14 placings from 40 starts (I retired her without injuries, as I did not want to overrace her, with a breeding career in mind)
Mystification was actually the runt of the litter, and it was so funny to see her little ratty tail wagging up and down instead of sideways. She had many endearing quirks and habits that made her the delight of our family, and became a much beloved pet later on in her retirement.
She however was able to just narrowly hang on and win over 453m at Cowra. Plus she also ran 3rd in a Cowra Cup heat over 453m.(her son from her first litter, who I also bred, reared, broke in and trained, Mystery Title, went better by running 2nd in a Cup heat and finishing a very very unlucky close 3rd in a 3 way finish in the Cup Final. He had missed the start and was last away, still mid field approaching home turn but flashed home too late.)
Mystification also won 3 in a row on one occasion, by winning twice at Temora (first look at track) over 311m then going to Canberra and winning over 310m.
Mystification also won at Orange over 375m and won 5 races at Cowra over both 327m and 453m.
She was noted for her sizzling early speed from the boxes.
Despite her obvious lack of stamina, Mystification's progeny all could run from 300m to 700m, with strength being their best factor. Perhaps we were lucky in selecting the right sires for her as every litter she bred, all ended up at least TAB winners if not city winners. Three litters have produced city winners.

Mystification passed away at age 9 half years old while undergoing surgery to remove a mammary tumour, and she lost her battle for life the next day after the operation due to complications.
RIP our darling Mystification.
