This is me with my dog Mystery Title (Star Title x Mystification) who I bred and trained, at the Cowra Cup Final presentation (box 7, see the start of the race). He ran a very close 3rd after coming from a long way behind and just missed out on winning a stride after the winning post! He was flying home that quick
Very promising dog, broke in sensational, every intention of being a top city dog but like all stories lol unfortunately he ran into a steel wire fence going after a neighbour's yapping terrier and a steel bar lodged into his hip support and trapped him. He did a lot of damage to his leg struggling to break free, tore important muscles to shreds.
That was just shortly after finishing breaking in and before his first start.
A non greyhound vet operated on his leg with the result his hip support was stitched up too tightly, restricting his leg movement permanently. However despite losing at least 6-10 lengths in speed, he still was good enough to clock fast times and won 5 races for me, at Dubbo over 516m in pouring rain by 6 lens, at Cowra over 453m and at Temora over 457m first look at track.
He also ran two consecutive 2nds over 621m at Cowra behind a top stayer.
He was a magnificently proportionated dog with a beautiful temperament, our favorite of the kennels. "Roy" dropped a back muscle a few times at the end of his career so was retired at the age of 4 years old. Because of locals' knowledge of his ability and his excellent breeding, broods were queuing up to use him and we received 5-6 bookings immediately upon his retirement.
Unfortunately he suffered a fatal heart attack a week after serving his first bitch. That bitch produced one huge monster pup, who was then sold for a five figure sum upon breaking in very good and was sent to NZ.
