What do we feed our dogs at Bluesky Lodge?
Well, we usually feed fresh beef (freshly killed cows from a friend), along with Winning Edge Platinium for the racing dogs, and for those retired broodys/young pups we feed a variety of quality kibble (have never bought or fed any kibble that didn't cost less than $35 a bag, no cheap food here!) such as Supercoat, Coprice, Petchef, Box 1 (yes, even though the price has gone through the roof for that kibble! )
However this month we have changed it slightly to half and half Box 1 Gold with Winning Edge Platinium, along with a change of meat to Roo meat.
Dogs are now in even better condition! So we may be sticking to it for the long term
During winter we will give a small amount of fresh chicken mince to add to the beef, to add fat content.
We give all the dogs cooked stews once a week, and they also get cooked vegetables a few times a week (carrots, pumpkin, celery, spinach, a dash of garlic, rice and a small amount of pasta, a bit of turnip, bit of swede).
They also get a fish meal with wholemeal bread once a fortnight, they absolutely love it! (We feed mackerel, no other kind of fish)
For breakfast, all the dogs get a 4 x 2 box 1 biscuit, buttered with either vegemite, peanut butter, honey, tuna spread, etc along with their usual breakfast of half milk, half water, weetbix, 1 egg yolk, white e)
Oh and they also get chicken necks once a week, brisket bones when not racing that week. All pups get plenty of bones during their growing period.
However, for an experiment, I reared my Addis Boy x Venus Express litter on the super best than normal feed, eg feeding Advance Puppy kibble, Eukanba, Eagle Pack Power, with fresh beef. We'll see how they turn out!
